7 Reasons Why CrossFit Makes You a Bad Employee

Yes, being a CrossFitter has its carryover benefits for many an employee, but at times a CrossFitter’s habits can be a distraction at work.  Any of these sound familiar?

1. All CrossFitters talk about is CrossFit.
Water cooler conversations are likely to be drawn out as a CrossFitter tries to impart the benefits of the sport on a colleague, or shares WOD stories with a fellow athlete.

2. CrossFitters are restless.
CrossFitters love being active, which makes sitting at a desk all day a trial. They’ll be the people who get up regularly for a walk to the kitchen, the bathroom, the printer, a colleague’s office… Pretty much any excuse they can find to walk around is one they will take.

3. CrossFitters are always eating.
Following on from #2, the CrossFitters will make regular trips to the kitchen for food because they fuel themselves well and are constantly hungry from all that working out. The cleaners will probably get annoyed too, as they’ll constantly find bits of nuts and seeds under CrossFitters’ desks.

4. The gym is a CrossFitters’ main priority.
The CrossFitter might be a dedicated employee and won’t take many sick days, but getting to the gym will take priority over work. If s/he has planned an after-work WOD, s/he will make sure to leave on time.

5. They’re intimidating.
It’s easy to feel intimidated by an athlete who rocks incredible quads, eats protein and vegetables at every meal, gets to the gym most days and STILL manages to do an awesome job and play with their kids every night. The humble CrossFitter wouldn’t want to make anyone feel intimidated, but some people would struggle to understand how s/he does it and would wish that they could too.

6. They love doing CrossFit research.
It might seem as though the CrossFitter is working hard at their desk, but a good chunk of their time will probably be dedicated to CrossFit-related research – blogs by their home box and favourite athletes, research on the best technique for the day’s WOD, a tasty Paleo recipe…and don’t even think about the amount of CrossFit reading that will be done around the Open.

7. CrossFitters are stinky.
Many CrossFitters won’t have access to a shower at their gym so, after a morning session, they will shower at work and then leave their damp towel hanging in the office and their Nanos or Inov-8s next to their desk. This evidence of their morning work out will only serve as a constant (smelly) reminder of their dedication to being healthy and will further intimidate their colleagues.
